Sword of the Demon Hunter: A Bloody Good Start, But Does It Stick the Landing? Noon Anime Review!
Posted by Noon Anime Team on July 15, 2025
Demon hunters, supernatural swordplay, and a gripping period setting! That's the promise of Sword of the Demon Hunter, and for the first thirteen episodes, it almost delivers. The initial arc is a whirlwind of intrigue, introducing a captivating world teeming with yokai and a compelling protagonist. We're immediately hooked by the mysteries surrounding the titular sword and the demon hunter's past, making for a binge-worthy start that had us glued to our screens! Prepare for a rollercoaster of emotions as the hero faces increasingly dangerous foes, all while uncovering dark secrets!
However, like a rusty katana, Sword of the Demon Hunter starts to lose its edge. While the initial episodes are packed with electrifying moments, the action sequences in the later half become a significant letdown. Sadly, the impressive choreography of the early episodes seems to have been lost, replaced by a blur of confusing cuts and underwhelming fight scenes. It's a real shame, as the potential for breathtaking battles was clearly there. It's a classic case of a show that had a phenomenal start but unfortunately fizzled out in terms of visual execution. The potential for groundbreaking action sequences is sadly unrealized!
Despite this, Sword of the Demon Hunter remains watchable! The intriguing plot and the well-developed characters keep you invested. The narrative, although hampered by some pacing issues, keeps you guessing, with unexpected twists and turns that will leave you breathless. We found ourselves still wanting to know what happened next, despite the frustrating action. Plus, let's be real, demon-hunting in a beautifully rendered period setting is always appealing! Fans of supernatural anime looking for a stylish, albeit flawed, adventure should check it out, just manage your expectations for the fight scenes.
Overall, Sword of the Demon Hunter is a mixed bag. A strong start, captivating world, and interesting characters are unfortunately let down by underwhelming action. A must-watch for those who appreciate a good mystery, but perhaps temper your expectations if stunning fight choreography is your top priority. Noon Anime gives it a cautiously optimistic 3 out of 5 stars!
