Vending Machine Dungeon Season 2, Episode 8: Was Too Much Left on the Cutting Room Floor?!
Posted by Noon Anime Team on August 22, 2025
Noon Anime Readers, assemble! We've just finished watching Episode 8 of Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon Season 2, and… well, let's just say we have some *feelings*. The episode felt… rushed? Truncated? Like a delicious ramen bowl served with only half the noodles! The source material is beloved for its quirky charm and detailed world-building, and this episode felt like a significant chunk of that magic was sacrificed at the altar of pacing.
Our initial excitement quickly soured as we noticed key plot points and character interactions that felt underdeveloped, almost jarringly so. Fans of the light novel will undoubtedly feel this absence most acutely. Certain scenes felt like they were glossed over, skipping vital moments that added depth to the narrative and the relationships between our favorite characters. While the animation remained top-notch – those vending machine close-ups are still ridiculously cute! – the storytelling itself lacked the satisfying heft we've come to expect. Did the studio prioritize speed over substance? The evidence strongly suggests yes.
This isn’t to say Episode 8 was *bad*. It had its moments, showcasing the unique humor and adventurous spirit that makes this series so enjoyable. But it left us craving more! More interaction, more world-building, more of that adorable vending machine heroism! We're hoping this is just a temporary stumble and that the remaining episodes will make up for this perceived shortfall. Perhaps they'll dedicate some time to filling in the gaps left by this slightly disappointing installment. Maybe even throw in an extra-long scene with our vending machine hero dispensing rare healing potions to a grateful party of adventurers!
